Submit an Agency's Shoulder Patch

A memorial isn't complete without a photograph of each fallen officer and an image of his or her agency's patch. Displaying these items helps to preserve the perpetual memory of these brave officers by putting faces with the names and recognizing the agencies that these heroic officers served.

If you have a patch to represent any agency or officer who has made the ultimate sacrifice, please follow the steps below to have it displayed on the Officer Down Memorial Page. To guarantee the best possible quality of the scan, please send your agency's patch to the address below. If you wish to scan the patch yourself and submit it electronically, please skip to the electronic section.

STOP! Before submitting this patch, compare it to the image of an "Acceptable" patch below. If your image is not as clear, large, or as high-resolution as the "Acceptable" patch, we will not be able to use it.

DO NOT submit images of patches taken with DIGITAL CAMERAS. They cannot be used because they lack the necessary level of detail and resolution suitable for use on a memorial. Only images acquired using scanners are suitable for use on the ODMP.

  1. Scan the patch at actual size or larger using a white background (use a solid colored background if the patch has a white or silver border)
  2. Ensure that there is at least 1/4 inch between the edge of the patch and the edge of the image
  3. Save the scan at 100% quality as a *.jpg, *.bmp, or *.tif (please do not save it as a *.gif)
  4. If sending more than one patch please include all patches in one zip file (if possible)
  5. If the scan does not meet these guidelines the image will not be used

Please note that only scans of shoulder patches will be used. Only in extremely unique circumstances will we be able to use an emblem other then a shoulder patch (ie, if the agency doesn't use a shoulder patch or the agency no longer exists). Please do not submit images of badges, logos, or computer-generated images. Any image that is not a scan of a shoulder patch will not be used.
