Constable Browne was a probationary constable at Sudbury at the time of his death. He was on patrol with fellow officer Constable David Toffoli. The officers were returning on Highway 69 about 25 miles from Sudbury. A load of steel on a transport truck shifted which caused the truck to crush the police vehicle. Constable Browne had been an OPP probationary constable just 10 days.
