Constable Rodgers was stationed at Petrolia at the time of his death. Constable Rodgers died from injuries he sustained at the scene of a motor vehicle accident while directing traffic in blinding snow conditions. Two bystanders were also struck and killed at the scene.

Constable Rogers was with the OPP for 4 years. He was survived by his wife and two daughters.
