Constable Francis died as the result of complications that arose out of an accident at the Pioneer Days Festival in Oromocto, New Brunswick. He was getting items out of the trunk of his police vehicle when another vehicle struck him and trapped him between the vehicles. He later died in hospital of an apparent heart attack.
