Ranger Noseworthy died from injuries he received when the plane he was in crashed into a lake during an investigation. The accident happened in a remote region near the Quebec/Labrador border.

Three others, the pilot, the engineer and Assistant Forest Ranger Carl George, of the Canada Department of Forestry and Agriculture, died in the incident. The aircraft, a Laurentian Air Services Beaver (CF-BPA), was owned by Laurentian Air Services.
