Constable Shores was stationed at Dutton at the time of his death. He had commented the day before he was not feeling well. Constable Shores was at the scene of a domestic complaint. He had taken a suspect into custody which involved a scuffle. Back up arrived on the scene. The handcuffs on the suspect required adjustment. When Constable Shores was adjusting the cuffs he fell to the ground.

His backup Constable McConnell administered CPR. Constable Shores was taken to hospital where he was pronounced dead.

Constable Shores was with the OPP for 16 years, 7 months.

Constable Shores is survived by his wife and two children.
