Constable Crew was stationed at Goderich at the time of his death. Constable Crew and his partner Constable Jack Straughn received a call to assist a Goderich municipal police officer involved in a high speed chase. Another OPP vehicle an a car from the Clinton Police force joined the call. The OPP vehicle had boxed the suspect car on a gravel road. Constable Crew approached the suspect vehicle and removed the ignition keys. Other vehicle converging on the scene were unaware of the current status of the chase. As they sped to the scene on of the cruisers came over a blind crest and struck the OPP cruiser, killing Constable Crew and injuring his partner Constable Straughn.

Constable Crew was a 25 year veteran of the force.

Constable Crew is survived by his wife and four children.
