Officer Bartley was killed in a head-on vehicle accident while conducting a night hunting patrol.

Officer Bartley had 12 years of service with the department. He had worked in numerous districts throughout the province, including, Riverton, Island Lake, Lake Winnipeg East and Hodgson. He was survived by his wife, son, and two daughters.
