Sergeant Larry Thomas Young
Sergeant Young was the Head of the Vancouver Police Emergency Response Team.
He was called in from holiday leave on February 02, 1987. The team was entering a house to arrest a drug dealer. After several problems before the entry, Sergeant Young forced the door and was greeted with a bullet to the face, killing him. Other members of the team were also injured.
The suspect was found barricaded in the house and well armed. He was shot.
Sergeant Young was a very highly thought of officer and extremely well trained in his field. It is reported that he had been approached by the F.B.I. to write their training manual prior to his untimely demise.
