Constable Faraone was shot and killed while attempting to arrest a suspect who was fleeing from an armed robbery. He had located the vehicle in an alley containing one suspect. As he focused his attention on the occupant, a second suspect hiding in the backseat opened fire, fatally wounding Constable Faraone.

The suspect who shot Constable Faraone was sentenced to life in prison. The second suspect was sentenced to 15 years.

Constable Faraone was a 10 year veteran of the Edmonton Police Force.
