A store clerk refused to sell airplane glue to a customer who had been making noticeable purchases of the product. When refused the customer became abusive.

The police responded to a call and were directed to a suspects residence. The residence was a one time garage. By the time backup had arrived the suspect had barricaded himself in the grease pit along with an automatic rifle.

Detective Davidson died from a bullet shot in the neck. Six officers lay wounded, two seriously. The suspect had a history of Mental Illness and drug abuse.

The suspect died at the scene after he was flushed from the garage by an armored personnel carrier. The suspect's nose was so lined with glue Tear gas was ineffective.

Detective Davidson had served with the agency for 23 years.
