Constable Gregory was patrolling his beat at 1:00 o'clock in the morning. Suddenly he met his killer, a 38 year old male who lived alone with his mother. They were known to be reclusive. The killer was receiving a disability pension for a mild mental illness.

At about 5:30 am August 28 the killer set fire to his home. He murdered a neighbor and his mother with a hammer. In all the confusion he escaped and that day purchased a 16 gauge shotgun. Constable Gregory was alerted to the killers strange behavior.

Constable Gregory approached the killer and asked to see What you've got. The killer turned a fired on Constable Gregory killing him instantly. A retired police officer took the killers weapon and tried to stop the killer shooting him in the leg. The killer then shot himself in the head dying instantly.
