He was the NCO in charge of the RCMP detachment in Climax, Saskatchewan. A village of about 300 people at the time of the incident is a village 23 kilometers north of the Saskatchewan-Montana Border.
Shortly after Corporal Larsen died, the man suspected of shooting him was found dead, across the border in Montana. A witness saw Larsen in pursuit of another vehicle. The vehicle stopped and Larsen pulled up behind it. When Larsen approached the suspect's car, the suspect got out of his vehicle pulled a gun and fired several shots.
Corporal Larsen was a 14 year veteran of the RCMP. He is survived by his wife and 2 children.
