A pedestrain had stepped into the street unexpectedly. Constable Pryer swerved to avoid the pedestrain but was unable to do so. He struck the pedestrain and the motorcycle skidded into a curb. The pedestrain was not seroiusly injured. When the vehicle struck the curb he was thrown head first into a lampole. He was taken to hospital with a fractured skull and died a few hours later.
