Guard Malcolm Jenkins killed after being hit over the head from
behind by an inmate using a crowbar while supervising an inmate
work crew.

The inmate was convicted of murder. He was subsequently
hanged at the county jail on April 21, 1927.

Guard Jenkins had served with the Kingston Penitentiary for six
years. He was survived by his wife, four daughters, and one son.
