Constable MacDonald was stationed at Herschel in the Yukon Territory at the time of his death.

He drowned when he fell overboard a vessel he was traveling on. It was dark when Constable MacDonald had fallen overboard in the chilly arctic water.

The details surrounding the event were suspicious to some people. Due to a lack of evidence the suspicions were never proven.
