Conservation Officer Kevin Misfeldt died in a Cessna 185 piloted by Deputy Wildlife Officer/Pilot Breton Thomas and who was also killed. He was involved in a white tail deer survey at the time of the crash. He had been doing quadrant surveys.

Wildlife Biologist Wally Kost was also killed in the accident.

Officer Misfeldt is survived by his wife and three children, parents, a brother and sisters.
