Constable Gleadow was stationed in Esterhazy, Saskatchewan. He was assaulted by a suspect with a hammer while searching his residence. After the assault with the hammer he was shot with a .22 rifle.

The suspect then escaped in Constable Gleadow's vehicle. He was tracked down but shot himself in the head before he could be arrested.
