Constable Cobble was stationed at Vegreville, Alberta at the time of his death. He was traveling with Sergeant A. Cantrill at the time of the incident. The officers came upon a broken down truck that created a dangerous road hazard. The officers located the driver and while awaiting assistance for the disabled vehicle it was struck by another vehicle which caused it to hit Constable Cobble who was standing in front of the vehicle. He was rushed to hospital but died from his injuries.
