Constable Reynolds was questioning a suspect when he was assaulted and knocked to the ground. He got up and asked the suspect to accompany him to the police station when he was knocked down once again.

Two men went to aid Constable Reynolds between the knockdowns but were brushed aside by friends of the accused. Constable Reynolds was taken unconscious to the hospital where he never regained consciousness.

The suspect was arrested, charged and convicted of manslaughter, and sentenced to six years in the penitentiary.

After being paroled the suspect was killed in Western Canada in 1955.
