Constable Seigel died in Ile Des Clones, Manitoba as the result of a fatal shooting.

Constable Seigel was one of a number of officers who responded to a complaint by the suspect's father. The suspect was mentally ill. While the negotiator attempted to talk him out of the dwelling a shot was fired.

Constable Seigel was found with a bullet wound to his head. He died from the injury before he reached hospital.
