DeSimone Biographical Info Incident Details Constable DeSimone died when his cruiser ran into the back of a truck which had stopped to warn oncoming vehicles of another accident ahead. Constable DeSimone was responding to an emergency call to aid fellow officers facing a rock and bottle throwing crowd on Queen Street. It is estimated that the near riot crowd numbered nearly 500 people. The disturbance began when a motorcycle officer stopped a car of youths that had been observed driving dangerously. He was attempting to arrest the driver. An argument ensued between the officer an the occupants of the car. Shoppers drifting from nearby stores began to gather and several groups of youths began pushing and yelling which set in motion the chain of events.
