![]() | Staff Sergeant Ronald Edward McKay Biographical Info Incident Details Staff Sergeant Ronald McKay of the Delta Police, attended a Tsawwassen residence in November 1974 and attempted to speak to a male suspect regarding a domestic disturbance. While at the front door S/Sgt. McKay was confronted by the suspect with a shotgun. Without warning McKay was shot dead at point-blank range. The accused was subsequently convicted of the crime and sentenced to be hanged. However it was later commuted to life imprisonment when capital punishment was repealed by the Trudeau government. In January 1999 the accused was granted temporary escorted absences by the National Parole Board. He was 53 years old when granted the absences.
