Constable Brabant was chasing three armed robbers wanted for two attempted murders and robbery.

Constable Brabant was shot with an M-1 rifle while he was still in his car. The car he was chasing stopped and the suspects opened fire on him. The three killers were apprehended a few days later.

Constable Brabant was also patrolling alone at night in a remote location. After this event (and the death of Constable Gérald Desfossés), The policemen of the Sûreté du Québec went on strike to obtain two officers by car at night. They won.
