Constable Blucher was stationed at the Port Credit Detachment. Constable Blucher was completing his shift and returning to base when his motorcycle was struck by an impaired driver. The collision happened at the intersection of the Dixie Road and the Queen Elizabeth Way in Toronto Township.

Constable Blucher was the first police officer to die on the newly constructed highway.
