Corporal Gilmore was station at Spanish at the time of his death. Corporal Gilmore had just been involved in the chase and apprehension of 3 individuals with a stolen car. He radioed that he was not feeling well. A fellow officer took custody of the prisoners, locked them up and proceeded to hospital with Corporal Gilmore. They were met en route by an ambulance and the ambulance attendants administered oxygen. Corporal Gilmore was pronounced dead shortly after reaching the hospital.

Corporal Gilmore was with the OPP for over 23 years. He was survived by his wife.
