![]() | Constable Martin Lefebvre Biographical Info Incident Details Constable Lefebvre died when he lost control of his car on an icy stretch of road while responding to an emergency call. He had recently joined the municipal police force in Shawinigan about 150 kilometres north of Montreal. Lefebvre's patrol car fell into a ditch two metres deep at about 9 p.m. Sunday night. "The ditch contained icy water that seeped in through the window,'' said Shawinigan-Sud police spokesman Claude St-Yves. "Lefebvre was semi-conscious and half his body was immersed in water. He remained like that at least 25 minutes, the time it took us to get there." Const. Stephanie Arnois was riding with Lefebvre at the time of the accident, she was seriously injured, she suffered multiple fractures. She escaped by a window before calling for help. She lost consciousness in the icy water. She will be out of service for several months.
