Marie when their helicopter encountered system difficulties. The pilot attempted to make an emergency landing, however the helicopter rolled over and crashed into the bush a short distance from a railroad siding.
Loggers working nearby witnessed the accident and were on the scene almost immediately, but there were no survivors. Also killed in the crash were two Resource Management technicians, Bruce Stubbs, 39, Chantelle Walkey, 27, and the chief helicopter pilot, Michael Maguire, 50, all from MNR Sault Ste. Marie. Officer Ceolin had come in to work on his day off to fly that day.
Officer Ceolin had 25+ years with Ontario Ministry of Resources. Officer Ceolin is survived by his companion and a son.
