Constable Robert Mahlig was killed after being punched in the
head while attempting to evict loiterers from Ottawa's Union
As he physically escorted one of the men from the station the
man suddenly punched him in the side of the head, knocking him
unconscious. It was determined that he suffered a fractured skull
as a result of the attack.
Constable Mahlig had served with the agency for 17 years.
