Constable Robert MacIntosh was shot and killed in the Canadian Pacific Railway yards in Calgary, Alberta, while attempting to arrest a subject believed to have stolen whiskey from a boxcar the night before.

The suspect had left a bottle of whiskey nearby and Constable MacIntosh was watching it with the belief the suspect would return to retrieve it. During the surveillance he encountered a subject who opened fire on him, fatally wounding him in the chest.

Constable MacIntosh had served with the Canadian Pacific Railway Police for only three months.
