Constable Nash was shot during a struggle with a suspect after he had robbed the Red Rooster restaurant of approximately $630.00. The suspect was arrested, tried and convicted of the murder of Constable Nash and sentenced to death by hanging.

He was executed on Dec. 11 1962 along with another man (unrelated murder) in the Toronto Jail. The murderers are buried in unmarked graves in Prospect Cemetery, Toronto. One man is buried in Area 13, Grave 415 and was 54 years old. Constable Nash's killer is buried in Area 13, Grave 416 and was 29 years old.

Both men were the last executions in Canada before the abolishment of capital punishment. Tragically, Constable Nash was not the last police officer to die in the performance of his duties.

At the time of his death Constable Nash left a wife and four children. He had served with the agency for 11 years.
