Constable Prodan was stationed at Dutton at the time of his death. Constable Prodan was on patrol on Highway 401 and in pursuit of a speeder. A tourist from New York had somehow become confused and ended up on the wrong side of the highway. The two vehicles collided head on. Both drivers were killed at the scene.

Officer Prodan was with the OPP for 6 years.

Officer Prodan is survived by his wife and four children.
